About the Author


Elaine Shpungin, Ph.D., is the director of the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) Psychological Services Center - the training, research, service and outreach site for doctoral students in the Clinical/Community program in Psychology.

Elaine is also student and practitioner of Non Violent Communication (NVC) and Restorative Circles (RC) and a fan of speculative and science fiction. Besides her blog, Elaine enjoys dabbling in the writing of flash fiction and memoir (her 6 word autobiography was included in the book "It All Changed in an Instant: More Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous & Obscure").

Elaine lives in Illinois with her partner of 15 years (Mikhail Lyubansky), and their two kids, Aaron (age 9) and Rachel (age 4).
